Amidst in the range of the famous Parasnath Hills, the Usri River gushes down from a steep gorge, some 40 feet high in three separate streams. The Usri Falls drop some 12 metres (39 ft) in three separate streams. Located about 14 km away from the east of Giridih Town in the state of Jharkhand is one of the most scenic picnic spots in the state. Usri is surrounded by the Parasnath hills which is the highest peak in Jharkhand. The waterfall slopes down the hill, divided into three streams which add to its beauty.

Why is Usri fall famous?
Acharya Jagdish Chandra Bose, Rabindranath Tagore, and Satyajit Ray all spent time in Giridih during their lives as three of India’s greatest figures. Both Satyajit Ray and Rabindranath Tagore have written about Usri Falls in their works. Professor Shanku, one of Satyajit Ray’s well-known works, makes reference to Usri Falls.

Best time to visit Usri FallsTo witness the beauty of the falls, the best time to visit is during the month of August when the water level remains at its high. However, for a picnic and weekend gateway, the best time to visit the fall is during the winter months i.e from November to February.
